About...

Majela is an award-winning artist based in South Africa with over 15 years of experience in dance, teaching and performance. He is a graduate from the Performing Arts, Research and Training Studios (P.A.R.T.S) in Belgium. Majela has performed and toured intensively with international and local companies as a company member and/or collaborative artist. His recent tour was with the late Dada Masilo, Giselle, Swan Lake, Rite of Spring.

He has created numerous works as an independent artist such as Don't let the Sun set on you here, Mommy Mommy,  and Ditoro. He teaches dance through his class and workshops under Movement Studies, focusing on floor work, release technique and African dances. He has taught his workshops in numerous art spaces, institution and dance companies internationally and locally had the support of the Standard Bank.

He has been involved in various artistic residencies since 2017 through, which have shaped and broadened his artistic thinking and approach; Basel Mondial - Pro Helvetia (2017), Forgotten Angle Theater Collaborative (2019), Center for the Less Good Idea - Season 7 curated by William Kentridge and Phala Ookeditse Phala (2019), CND Paris - French Institute (2021 - 2022), Museums Quartier Wien (2025), to mention a few.
